ATTITUDES FOR GODLY DEVELOPMENT: “FAITHFULNESS”
June 21, 2026 / PASTOR WILL PEREZINTRODUCTION
Faithfulness is not about being . It’s about being reliable — day after day, in the big moments and the small ones.
- The Bible says it plainly: Faithfulness is of the Christian:
- 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 1 Let a man consider us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found faithful.
- Wherever God has placed you in your life, that is where God you to grow and perform.
- Luke 12:42-44 42 And the Lord said, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom his master will set over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time? 43 Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 44 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.
- God is not looking for the most talented, the most charismatic, or the most successful. He is looking for the .
What is Faithfulness? Faithfulness is the Gospel Story!
- Faithfulness (pistis) is a of the Holy Spirit that embodies steadfast endurance rooted in trust— believers to remain committed even when God’s plans are unclear.
Where does faithfulness come from? Faithfulness is first an work before it becomes a testimony.
- It comes from the Holy Spirit.
- Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
INCREASING FAITHFULNESS IN EVERY AREA OF LIFE
1. Faithfulness in our : If we’re faithful in our thoughts, it’s revealed in whatever situation or condition we are in.
Biblical Example: Joseph – Genesis 39:8-12: guarded his mind and integrity when tempted by Potiphar’s wife.
- The battlefield of faithfulness is often the mind (2 Corinthians 10:5).
- Faithfulness begins internally before it appears externally. It is the transforming of our minds (Romans 12:2).
- Faithfulness requires we set our minds on things above, not on earthly things. Wrong thoughts eventually become wrong actions (Colossians 3:2).
- We must actively replace sinful thinking with biblical truth (Philippians 4:8).
Reflective Question: What thoughts occupy my mind when no one else is around or watching?
2. Faithfulness in our : The greatest encouragement someone receives this week may come from someone who simply chose to speak faithfully.
Biblical Example: Isaiah 6:8 – when God called him, Isaiah responded faithfully: “Here am I; send me.” His words became God’s message rather than his own opinions.
- Faithful people speak truth even when it is difficult (Colossians 4:6)
- Faithful speech builds others up instead of tearing them down (Ephesians 4:29).
- Faithfulness means keeping our promises (Matthew 5:37).
- Faithful words reflect Christ’s character (Psalm 19:14).
- God hears every conversation, not just public ones. He hears the thoughts of our hearts (Matthew 12:36-37).
Reflective Question: Would those closest to me describe my speech as trustworthy, encouraging, and truthful?
3. Faithfulness in spiritual : The most faithful believer in the room is not the one who knows the most Bible verses. It is the one who is still willing to be taught.
Biblical Example: In Acts 8:26-39, the Ethiopian Eunuch was humble and willing to learn more and grow in God.
- Faithful believers remain teachable (2 Timothy 2:15).
- Faithfulness requires action, not just information (Philippians 3:12-14).
- It’s the application of Scripture that increases faithfulness, not just the knowledge of it. Growth is evidence of faithfulness (Hebrews 5:12-14).
- Faithfulness means continually pursuing Christ (2 Peter 3:18).
Reflective Question: Am I more like Christ today than I was a year ago?
4. Faithfulness in obeying God’s – Faithfulness is rarely spectacular. It is usually quiet obedience repeated over a lifetime.
Biblical Example: Acts 8:26-40 – Philip the Evangelist obeyed the Spirit’s prompting to approach the Ethiopian eunuch. His obedience led directly to someone’s salvation.
- Faithfulness does not delay: Delayed obedience is often disobedience (John 14:15).
- Faithfulness requires that we trust God reveals the next step before the entire plan (Hebrews 3:15).
- Faithful, humble acts of obedience, even under pressure, produce significant kingdom impact (Acts 26:19).
- Faithfulness is measured by obedience, not results (James 1:22).
Reflective Question: What is God asking me to do that I have been postponing?
5. Faithfulness and personal – Faithfulness begins when excuses end. Faithful people ask a different question. Not, “Who is responsible? But, “Lord, what have You entrusted to me?”
Biblical Example: Nehemiah 1, 4, 5, and 6 was entrusted with rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls while facing criticism, opposition, and the temptation to compromise.
- Faithful believers take ownership rather than make excuses (2 Corinthians 5:10).
- Faithfulness means remaining focused on God’s calling despite distractions (Hebrews 4:13).
- Faithfulness equates to integrity: doing what is right when no one is watching (Romans 14:12).
- Faithful leaders examine themselves before correcting others (Galatians 6:4-5).
Reflective Question: Am I making progress or making excuses? What distractions are pulling me away from God’s priorities?
6. Faithfulness in – Faithfulness is not praying until God agrees with us. Faithfulness is praying until our hearts trust Him.
Biblical Example: Daniel 6:10. Daniel prayed three times daily, even when it became illegal. He, as Christ, showed us
- Faithfulness in prayer is measured by persistence, not length (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
- Faithful prayer reveals dependence upon God (Luke 18:1).
- Faithful prayer continues even when answers are delayed (Philippians 4:6).
- Faithful prayer aligns our hearts with God’s will (John 15:7).
Reflective Question: Is prayer my first response or my last resort?
7. Faithfulness in – Faithfulness always looks extravagant to a world that prefers efficiency over devotion.
Biblical Example: Mary of Bethany in John 12:1-8 – poured costly perfume on Jesus in an act of unselfish and surrendered worship.
- Faithful Worship is a lifestyle, not merely a church service (John 4:23-24).
- Faithful Worship engages heart, mind, and actions (Romans 12:1-2).
- Faithful Worship costs us something (Hebrews 10:25).
- Faithful Worship should continue beyond Sunday (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Reflective Question: Is God receiving my best or my leftovers?

- The only way to get from infidelity to faithfulness is to rely on the Holy Spirit who gave you faithfulness.
- The Holy Spirit Faithfully gives you the ability to do right and draw closer to God.
- God provides everything you need and enables you to reflect your faithfulness. This isn’t an instant process; it takes time.
- It all starts on a personal level, through your surrender to God, so He can transform you from the old man into the new.
CONCLUSION
- Our is not in our ability to hold on to Christ, but in Christ’s unchangeable faithfulness to hold on to us.
- The highest calling God places before you is the same: Think faithfully. Speak faithfully. Grow faithfully. Obey faithfully. Faithful accountability. Pray faithfully. Worship faithfully.
- Faithfulness is love in action, revealed in suffering, grown through knowledge, and sustains us in uncertainty.
- Matthew 25:21 “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Master.”
- The question is not, “Am I successful?” but “Am I faithful?” Every area of life ultimately answers that question.
- Long after people forget our accomplishments, they will remember our faithfulness. And long after we leave this earth, our faithfulness will continue to preach Christ to the generations that follow.
Take a moment today to reflect on the kind of legacy you’d like your faithfulness to leave behind. Think about how you want your children, friends, and even strangers to remember your life and your walk with Christ. Let’s be intentional about it—asking God to guide us in living in a way that points others to Him and inspires future generations to follow suit
SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I know that the penalty of my sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. I acknowledge that I can’t do anything about my situation. But I know that You came to pay the penalty for my sin. I trust in You alone as the One who died in my place. I repent of my sin and trust in You alone as the only One who can place me in an eternal relationship with the living God. I desire to be Your child. I desire to live as Your child. In Your name. Amen.
