TITUS SERIES, WEEK 4: MARKS OF SOUND DOCTRINE
August 9, 2026- Titus 2:1 (ESV) —> Sound Doctrine
But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.
“It is the fashion nowadays, to talk much about preaching Christ, but not his doctrines. I neither understand nor wish to understand what that expression can mean. Christ without his doctrine? The great teacher without his teachings? The Lord without his commands?” CH Spurgeon
- Titus 2:2-3 (ESV) —> Older Men and Women
2 Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good… - Titus 2:4-5 (ESV) —> Young Women
4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. - Titus 2:6-8 (ESV) —> Titus’ example to Young Men
6 Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8 and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. - Titus 2:9-10 (ESV) —> To Bond Servants
9 Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.
SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I know that the penalty of my sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. I acknowledge that I can’t do anything about my situation. But I know that You came to pay the penalty for my sin. I trust in You alone as the One who died in my place. I repent of my sin and trust in You alone as the only One who can place me in an eternal relationship with the living God. I desire to be Your child. I desire to live as Your child. In Your name. Amen.
