INTERCEPTING ENTROPY

INTRODUCTION

  • Entropy is a lack of or predictability, a decline into disorder.
  • Everything that involves people means entropy is in play. Things drift, vision leaks, people get off the mission, and momentum diminishes.
  • Why discuss mission and values? Because entropy and mission drift come naturally.
  • 2 Peter 1:12-13 Therefore, I will always remind you about these things—even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught. 13 And it is only right that I should keep on reminding you as long as I live.
  • OUR MISSION AT CIELO VISTA CHURCH: Inviting the lost and broken into our Christ-centered journey from empty religion to generational life change.
  • We grow in Christ from:
    – The attitude of daily surrender.
    – The grafting of God’s Word into life (Get a Bible reading plan)
    – Investing time with people who are . (Don’t compare).
    – Deleting adversarial competitors that distract your heart. (sights, sounds, situations).
  • Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

OUR VALUES AT CIELO VISTA CHURCH

1. BIBLICAL TRUTH ALIVE IN LOVE

  • The Navigator.
  • 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

2. POWER OF PRAYER

  • The Visionary (Elmer Towns’ Book on prayer)
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Never stop praying.

3. LIFE CHANGING GENEROSITY

  • The Investor
  • John 3:16 For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
  • Matthew 6:19-21 Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.  20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.  21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

4. UNITY IN DIVERSITY

  • The Bridge Builder
  • We coalesce around the Living Christ.
  • 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. 13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit. 14 Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. 15 If the foot says, “I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? 18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part! 20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. 21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.” 22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. 23 And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, 24 while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. 25 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. 26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. 27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

5. BEFORE YOU’RE READY

  • The Pioneer
  • Ecclesiastes 11:4 Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.
  • How many people of God are tired and about to give up, quit, remain discouraged, or say, “What’s the use?” because they cannot see progress? They took their eyes off the Savior.
  • Our mission statement and are designed to help the people of God keep serving with the land in sight. To keep working because of the ONE who called us to HIS mission.

“I used to ask God to help me. Then I asked if I might help Him. I ended up asking God to do His work through me.”Hudson Taylor

SALVATION PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I know that the penalty for my sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. I acknowledge that I can’t do anything about my situation. But I know that You came to pay the penalty for my sin. I trust in You alone as the One who died in my place. I repent of my sin and trust in You as the only One who can place me in an eternal relationship with the living God. I desire to be Your child. I desire to live as Your child. In Your name. Amen.
