WHERE DID THE TIME GO?

THE WISE INVESTMENT OF TIME
- Wise is the person who takes their 24-hour allotment and invests their hours as someone would take dollars and see the work of compound interest.
- The Bible references time, what we should do with our time, the foolishness of wasting time, and the wisdom of investing time.
- The wise use of time…
– A book gets read.
– A degree is earned.
– A career is built.
– A living trust is prepared.
– A subject is mastered.
– A friendship is nurtured.
– A life is transformed.
– A Bible is read. - Psalm 90:12 Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
EVALUATE WHAT YOU DO WITH THE HOURS GOD GIVES YOU EACH DAY.
- Ephesians 5:15-16 So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity to do good in these evil days.
- When we understand that God gives us time for a purpose, we should do our best to do what God wants us to do.
- The best way to gain the most for tomorrow is to prepare today.
“Most people don’t lead their own lives; they accept their lives.” John Kotter
- When we fail to be wise with our time, we spend time repairing instead of preparing.
- There is a vast difference between activity and accomplishment.
- Ways to waste time…
1. By worrying.
2. By not planning.
3. By not confronting an issue.
4. By procrastinating.
5. By hoping things would get better.
6. By not organizing my day.
7. By overspending.
8. By choosing a poor attitude.
9. By blaming others.
10. By thinking only of me.
- Ways to invest time…
1. By resting in God’s promises.
2. By making a list of things to do that are important, not just urgent.
3. By confronting an issue.
4. By doing what’s important now (win).
5. By engaging the process to make things better.
6. By organizing my day.
7. By becoming wiser in expenditures.
8. By choosing a better attitude.
9. By taking responsibility for my life.
10. By thinking of others.
THE GIFT OF TIME
- We’ve been given the gift of time.
- We’re wise if we can chart a course with the time God has given each of us.
- Never use this phrase again, “I’m just killing time.”
- Let’s not live with time-wasted regrets.
- Most victories in life are realized through small, incremental steps and decisions sustained over time.
- There’s nothing like watching your time here on earth run out to help you get your priorities straight.
- We can’t choose whether we will have more time, but we can determine what we do with it.
- When we ask ourselves, “Where did the time go?” That we may be able to say, “It went to doing God’s will.”
SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I know that the penalty for my sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. I acknowledge that I can’t do anything about my situation. But I know that You came to pay the penalty for my sin. I trust in You alone as the One who died in my place. I repent of my sin and trust in You as the only One who can place me in an eternal relationship with the living God. I desire to be Your child. I desire to live as Your child. In Your name. Amen.
