JUDE 24-25, MESSAGE #6

August 31, 2025 / DR. LARRY LAMB

INTRODUCTION: SALVATION AND THE SECURITY IT OFFERS TO BELIEVERS

  • Romans 3:23-24 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Romans 10:9-10 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
  • 1 John 5:13 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life.

Evidence for genuine salvation means:

    • Your change.
    • Your love for deepens.
    • Your passion for grows.
    • Your love for God’s is evident.
    • Your conscience is by sin.
    • Your awareness that salvation is God’s and not my feeble ability to keep it going.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
    – A true believer in Jesus cannot live in their sin, be content with their sin, love their sin, and then foolishly indulge in their sin.
    – A Christian who loves Jesus cannot love their sin without deep levels of conviction.
    – A Christian who loves Jesus doesn’t want to sin, but when they do, forgiveness is given, and fellowship can be restored.
  • 1 John 1:9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

GOD’S FAITHFULNESS WHICH DISPELS FEAR: JUDE 24

  • Jude begins his letter with this in Jude 1: I am writing to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ.
  • Jude ends his letter like this: Jude 24 Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.
  • Psalm 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid?
  • John 14:27 I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
  • I’m going to heaven because of the work of Jesus, not my self-imposed standard of what I believe to be good.
  • John 10:27-30 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one.”
  • Because Christians are not responsible for earning salvation, they do anything to lose it.
  • Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

“Is it conceivable that despite all this, Christians may still fall away and be lost? Is it possible for God to predestine us to holiness, and yet we do not become holy? Can He adopt us as children and then disown us? Can he give us a guarantee of salvation and then renege on His promise?” David Clotfelter

  • 1 Peter 1:3-5 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, 4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

ALL GLORY TO HIM

Jude 25 25 All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

  1. Glory = Expression for of God’s attributes.
  2. Majesty = The secure and enduring of God.
  3. Power = God’s rule.
  4. Authority = Christ’s supremacy and for all of eternity.
  • When did all this begin? “Before all time.” Do we have this assurance now? “And in the present.” But should I fear the future? “Beyond all time! Amen.”
  • A faithful Christian will sometimes sin, but the faithful Christian will not want to continue in sin.
  • Being saved is not an to sin, but when we do sin, our Savior covers our sin, so we can stop trying to hide it with good works.
  • 1 John 2:1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

SALVATION PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I know that the penalty for my sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. I acknowledge that I can’t do anything about my situation. But I know that You came to pay the penalty for my sin. I trust in You alone as the One who died in my place. I repent of my sin and trust in You alone as the only One who can place me in an eternal relationship with the living God. I receive joyfully receive Your gift of GRACE. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
