MIDWEEK VIDEO, CLIFFE KNECHTLE, HOW TO SHARE YOUR FAITH – GOOD TO KNOW SERIES
February 12, 2025 / Cielo Vista ChurchHOW TO SHARE YOUR FAITH
3 REASONS WHY WE SHARE OUR FAITH WITH OTHERS:
1. LOVE
- Love motivates us as followers of Christ to use the unique personalities that God has given us to communicate Christ to people.
- God uses all of us differently to point people to Jesus Christ.
- John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- 1 John 4:9-10
- Romans 8:38-39
- At the center of the cosmos, there is a God who loves you and me. He treasures you and me. He wants to spend eternity with you and me in heaven. And that is what we are desperately to communicate to a world that desperately needs love.
- The reason that God judges is because he loves. The reason God judges is because you matter.
- How kind it was of Jesus to point out God loves you and there will a day of judgement and the reason God will judge is because people matter to him, you matter to him.
- The first reason that we communicate Christ to others is because God loves us.
- Love for God and love for people motivates us to communicate him.
- All you have to do is trace your motivation and your ambition to its root and that’s the object of your faith.
- The Gospel, first outline:
– God >Holy, just, and loving.
– Human beings >Created in the image of God, valuable, but sinners who chose to rebel against God.
– Jesus Christ > God in human form. Spirituality involves the physical, and that is why the body is valuable.
-Response >We accept him as savior. We’re trusting him for heaven. I’m going to heaven not because I have merited, not because I deserve it, but because he sent his son Christ to bleed and die on the Cross for my sin and I put my faith, my trust in him. I’m going to heaven because of what Christ did on the cross for me. - Jesus is also my Lord.
2. OBEDIENCE TO CHRIST
- Matthew 28:18 18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations…
- If. person does not want to talk to me about Christ, I am not responsible to force-feed anything down their throat. Instead, I need to respect them, I need to love them, and I need to realize that the Holy Spirit does not have this individual at the point where they want to have a serious conversation about Christ. I’m trusting God’s Holy Spirit to work in their hearts.
- What is evangelism? Sharing our faith is like a chain with a lot of links (different experiences in people in that process of a person coming to faith). Sometimes, we will be the first link, middle link, or the last link when a person says, “Yes, I want to accept Christ.” Usually, we don’t have that privilege. Christ calls us to be faithful, and all of us talk to people about Christ and be the first, middle or last link.
- Sharing our faith is all about introducing people to our closest friend, Jesus Christ. That’s what evangelism is.
- The Gospel, second outline called “The Roman Road” (Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:9; 12:1&2)
– Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
– Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
– Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
“I’m a worse sinner than I even understood, and I am more loved than I ever hoped for.” Cliffe Knechtle
– Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
- One of the ways pride is revealed in its most lethal forms is religionist self-righteousness.
– Romans 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
- We communicate our faith to others in obedience to Jesus Christ.
3. LISTENING AND THINKING
- John 4
- We don’t have the kind of knowledge that Jesus had, but we can ask questions and listen.
- Find out what is a person’s worldview.
- Questions to ask:
– Do you think God exists?
– Do you think there is an overall meaning and purpose to life?
– What do you think a real Christian is?
– Some people believe Jesus rose from the dead. What do you think? - Jesus asked over 290 questions in the gospels.
- Encourage people to read the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) for themselves.
- We share our faith by listening to people and thinking.
SALVATION PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I know that the penalty for my sin is physical, spiritual, and eternal death. I acknowledge that I can’t do anything about my situation. But I know that You came to pay the penalty for my sin. I trust in You alone as the One who died in my place. I repent of my sin and trust in You as the only One who can place me in an eternal relationship with the living God. I desire to be Your child. I desire to live as Your child. In Your name. Amen.
